Meeting of Early Career Researchers in the DGS
Tuesday, 29 September 2026, from 6:15 p.m.
The meeting of early career researchers provides a forum for information, exchange, and collective reflection. The first part of the session will feature an input by Dr Mathias Kuhnt (GEW Saxony, TU Dresden) on the current political and legal framework for early career researchers in academia. This will be followed by an opportunity for questions and discussion.
The second part of the meeting focuses on the perspectives of the participants. In an interactive format, we will jointly identify and structure the topics, challenges, and developments currently affecting early career researchers. The aim is to develop a shared assessment of the current situation, which will inform the future work of the "Sociology as a Profession" committee and be prepared in an appropriate format for visibility within the DGS.
Student Assembly: Whose Futures? Students Shaping Higher Education
Tuesday, 29 September 2026, from 6:15 p.m.
What does "The Present of Futures" actually mean? Especially in the context of current political, social, and institutional transformations, the future appears as an open space of possibilities—one that we have the opportunity to shape.
In the first part of the event, short introductory presentations will highlight key challenges currently facing students. During the second part, participants are invited to continue the conversation over refreshments in a relaxed atmosphere, make new connections, and exchange ideas about the congress and their own experiences of studying.
