Registration Fee
The registration fee has been determined by the Executive Board of the German Sociological Association (DGS). The fee is structured according to participant status (participants holding a permanent professorship, regular participants, students, or others). This year, the additional fee category "DGS member with a permanent professorship" has been introduced in order to better reflect the different professional circumstances within the membership. Members of the DGS and members of Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz are entitled to a reduced registration fee. Membership of a DGS section alone does not entitle participants to claim the reduced congress fee for DGS members. If you wish to apply for DGS membership and take advantage of the Early Bird registration rate for the DGS Congress, please submit your membership application no later than Sunday, 31 May 2026 (received by the DGS office either by email at JanDirk.Hoffmann(at)kwi-nrw.de or by post).
You will receive your congress materials after checking in on site. Further information on the opening hours and location of the check-in desk will be available from spring onwards in the congress programme and on this website.
Day tickets will be available via Converia from 1 September 2026.
Unfortunately, payment on site cannot be offered at this year's congress.

Student Group Tickets cannot be purchased on site and must be booked in advance. DGS membership is not required.
Doctoral Candidates – Reduced Registration Fee or Not?
The cost of the congress registration should not prevent anyone from attending the congress. Doctoral candidates who meet all of the following criteria are eligible for the heavily subsidised student rate:
- You must pay for your congress ticket yourself.
- You must not receive funding or a scholarship for your doctorate.
- You must not be employed as a research assistant.
- In addition to your doctoral studies, you must not undertake paid employment of more than 19 hours per week.
If any of these criteria do not apply to you, please pay the regular congress registration fee. The congress organisers ask participants to be honest when selecting the appropriate fee category and reserve the right to request supporting documentation.
Cancellation
In the event of cancellation up to 14 September 2026, the registration fee will be refunded minus an administrative charge of 20% of the purchase price. Unfortunately, cancellations made after 14 September 2026 are no longer eligible for a refund.
Further Information
We look forward to welcoming you to the congress. Registration takes place online via the conference platform, on the day of the opening ceremony at the Rheingoldhalle, and during the congress at the Infobox on the Gutenberg Campus. The registration link will be available on the congress website from 1 April 2026.
Registration becomes binding once it has been confirmed. Registration and payment of the congress fee are mandatory for all participants, including speakers and organisers.
The registration fee includes admission to the opening ceremony (including the reception and refreshments), participation in all academic congress sessions, the workshops organised by professional and publishing exhibitors on 28 September 2026, and the congress materials, which will be distributed at the on-site check-in. Separate tickets must be be purchased for the congress party and for certain parts of the social programme (e.g. guided city tours). Participants are responsible for arranging and paying for their own accommodation, travel, and meals. Please ensure that you book your accommodation well in advance.
