Press Invitation to the 43rd DGS Congress
Report on the ›Futures of Society‹
The 43rd Congress of the German Sociological Association (DGS) will take place from 28 September to 2 October 2026 at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. Around 2,000 sociologists from across the German-speaking world as well as international guests are expected to attend.
Under the congress theme ›Futures of Society‹, current research findings will be presented, new scientific insights discussed, and key questions concerning the future of society explored. The congress will focus, among other topics, on the social, political, technological, and cultural transformations that shape our present and will influence future developments.
We warmly invite members of the press to attend the congress and report on its events, debates, and research topics. The congress offers numerous opportunities to engage with current social and political issues and to speak with renowned scholars as well as early-career researchers from a wide range of sociological fields.
From our programme, we particularly recommend:
the Opening Ceremony, Author Meets Critics, the Lectures, and especially our FUTUREXPLORATORYs.
